Handy little charger
When I first gotten this device, I was somewhat pleased that it was somewhat charged up for me to test it out beforehand.
I was disappointed that it somewhat lied to me that it could charge a DS, as for those who still have an original 1st gen DS - like me! - there is NO connector tip for it. I assume they meant DS lite or something or just the DSi. They better correct that as even if there is not so many people with the original DS these days.
Despite that setback, the Kiwi U-Powered held well in charging the PSP, an iPod, and three different cellphones. Apparently it can also possibly charge up a PS3 controller as this device includes a connector tip for mini USBs. I wouldn't recommend trying it out just yet though unless you have an extra controller that you don't use.
An amusing surprise is that if you had a hand crank recharger, you can use that to charge this charger, although that would make this device as nothing more than a flashlight in most cases.
In any case, the design is simple and easy enough to fit into your pocket as a slightly oversized cellphone. I already mentioned before that there was a flashlight feature in this device, which gives it a plus on usefulness. I haven't tested out its durability - and I do not want to as I bought only one in the first place! - so I can only assume that you have to be careful when you fan it out to charge it via the sun. It also apparently contains a magnet for when you need two hands free but in need of a light, so you might want to be careful FYI.
As for its price, which was 49.99 on this site (not including shipping and handling) this has to be so far the cheapest solar powered charger that I have ever heard of - I think one of the Gameinformer mags stated that a different one was priced at 70$.
Since I think my review is a bit messed up, I'll simplify it with this: It is small, it is portable, it has four different ways of recharging itself and it has many connector tips to charge things that is important in the modern day world and for gamers alike. For things like blackouts to going outdoors, this is one charger that has 'I'm a nice deal, buy me' stamped on it.
