Shining Soul 2
My favorite game!
Honestly- I have no idea why this game is so unpopular. The game is so fun and was great for its time! I really wish they would remake this game for the DS!! Here is a quick overview of the game for people who are in a hurry: -Strategy, fantasy, roleplaying, adventure, action game. (although do not think of the fighting style as a "fire emblem, where you take turns fighting, think of it more as a legend of zelda fighting style.) -Ages 13+ would enjoy. -You can pick and customize your own character, and hook up with other people with the same game who have the GBA connection cord. Here's some more details about the game: -You start off the game by choosing your character, (which is honestly pretty cool for a handheld game- since most games make 1 character for you to play as) you have the option to choose from the classic warrior, a nature loving archer, a healer, a mage, a half vampire wizard, a ninja, a lizard man with a battle axe, etc. Sadly, the choice of characters are gender-limited- meaning that if you choose the mage- you can only be a girl mage, not a boy mage. However, you can choose a choice of 10 different colorings for your chosen character (ex: I can make my character wear red clothes, black clothes, have blond hair, or pink hair.) -After you choose your character, the story starts off with a tournament hosted by the King. A movie shows your character fighting one of the strongest knights- and getting reconized by the King. You are then asked to help him find his daughter (the Princess) and you set off on a jounrey unlocking several dungeons- until you find her. Then the story turns into a , "Please save the universe- your the only one who can do it" kind of thing. Honestly, the overall story is very cliqsue- however each dungeon & boss battle are very interesting. The whole game is basically...go to each dungeon and kill all the monsters to make the King's magic cyrstal ball shinny again. However, it never gets boring- because the script for the story makes it enjoyable, and you can't help but love the character designs for the monsters and such. -Game challange: You start off the game on normal mode and once you beat that you can unlock hardmode along with a new playable character. The boss battles remind me of legend of zelda- since each boss has a certain way to kill it. Sometimes it can be very obvious- sometimes it isn't. There are TONS of secret things in the game. For example, when your running around in the dungeons, or even the village Castle, if you run your character up against the walls- sometimes you will discover a tunnel that will lead you to a secret room, secret characters, or strange mini games (ex: there was a 'wack a mole' game in one of the dungeons o.O). Overall it is challenging. I'm sure some people could pull all nighters and beat the game- but the monsters are very strong, and its hard to buy armor and wepons because they are so expensive. (but its easier to get them from monster drops). Also, when your in a dungeon- you can't just pause the game and expect to be okay. The game really feels like an online game- because if you "pause" the game your character can still die if there are monsters around. You basically have to go AFK around a safe place if you need a break- which also makes the game more challenging. And each character has different pros and cons- so if you hate the character you started with- just make a new file and try out another. The game isn't short, but it isn't really long either. basically- if you just want to beat the main main boss- you can skip all the secret unlockable stuff- but if you want more of a challenge- you have the option to keep playing. Graphics/Animation: For a GBA game the graphics are pretty good! The NPC's all have detailed drawings of themselves that pop-up when they are speaking- so your not stuck looking at little chibis all the time. Sound: The music is pretty good, although the town/castle theme song can get
