Who can play in the tournament?
The GameStop Halo 3: ODST Melee in Manhattan tournament is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are 17 years of age and older at time of entry.

* Please note that a parent or legal guardian cannot give permission to anyone younger than 17 years old to play.

If you are over 17 years old, but considered a minor in your state of residence, you must have a parent or legal guardian sign and submit all documents on your behalf. Failure to complete and/or submit any required documentation, including but not limited to a Release of Liability, as required by Sponsor or the onsite GTD may result in disqualification.

What time is the round one tournament?
Round one tournaments are scheduled to start at 9pm, but please call the store first to confirm.  To find the location nearest you that is sponsoring a round one tournament please click on the link next to “Round 1 Store List”. 

How can I play in the round one tournament?
Contestants must sign in for the tournament on the Official Tournament Sign Up Sheet (The sign up sheet is located at the store). To find the location nearest you that is having a round one tournament please click on the link next to “Round 1 Store List.” The tournament is capped at 32 contestants per location. If a store already has 32 contestants sign up, you may sign up as an alternate in the eventuality a contestant fails to show or a contestant does not meet the Tournament’s eligibility requirements.  Or you can visit another location that is hosting a tournament.

If I win round 1, how can I get information about the round two tournament?
Winners of the round 1 tournament and the top 3 contestants will receive a winner certificate with information about round 2. 

What time is the round two tournament?
The round two tournaments are also scheduled to start at 9pm, but please call the store first to confirm.  To find the location nearest you that is sponsoring a round two tournament, please click on the link “Round 2 Store List”.  You must have won the round one tournament or finished in the top 3 spots behind the winner to advance to a round two tournament.  You will also need to bring the round one winner certificate when you attend a round two tournament to validate that you are eligible for round 2. 

What time is the round three tournament?
The round three tournaments are also scheduled to start at 9pm, but please call the store first to confirm the time.  To find the location nearest you that is sponsoring a round three tournament, please click on the link “Round 3 Store List”.  You must have won the round two tournament or finished in second place to advance to a round three tournament.  You will also need to bring the round two winner certificate when you attend a round three tournament to validate that you are eligible for round 3. 

What is the prizing for each tournament round?
Round One Tournament Winners – Halo 3: ODST prize pack which includes a License Plate Frame and 7-in-1 Survival Tool 
Round Two Tournament Winners – Halo 3: ODST Lantern Radio
Round Three Tournament Winners – Halo 3: ODST Solar Mobile Charger and qualify for trip to Finals in New York, NY*
Finals – 1st place $5,000 cash

* Sixteen (16) regional winners will qualify to attend the finals in New York, NY

What is a winner certificate and what happens if I did not get one?
A winner certificate indicates that you won the tournament and can advance to the next round.  If you did not receive a winner certificate after winning please contact the store that you played at.

What are the tournament gameplay rules?
  • The tournament will be played on the Xbox 360.
  • Players must use the controllers that are provided by the store.
  • No memory cards or third party memory devices can be used by contestants.
  • Tournament will be organized into a bracket-style single elimination format
  • Contestants will be paired off randomly for the opening match.  If there are an odd number of contestants in the opening match, the GameStop Tournament staff will randomly determine the contestant who will receive the opening match bye.
  • Map will be selected by GameStop tournament staff.
  • No leaving the outside of the map selected by the Gamestop employee.
  • Players will play on a split –screen (unless notified otherwise) but are not allowed to look at the other players screen.
  • Players may select any color or icon.
  • Shaking, jiggling (looking left and right in rapid succession to shake the screen) is prohibited.  Any other action designed to disrupt the opposing player’s view of the field or ability to select controlled players is prohibited.
  • In the event of an outage of power, accidental unplugging, system freeze or some other event not in either player's control that would not allow the participants to finish the game, the game will be restarted using the "situational setup" to exactly match the score of the game and continue from said point.  
  • The game settings are the following:
    • Game: Slayer
    • Map: Heretic (use for all rounds)
    • Score to Win: Unlimited Kills
    • Team Slayer: Disabled
    • Time Limit: 5 min
    • General Settings:
        • Motion Tracker Mode: Off
        • primary weapon: Battle Rifle
  • The winner of each game will be determined by final score and will move on to the next game. (If the game is tied after the time limit, the game will go into 2 minute overtime where the first death wins.
  • GameStop Tournament Director and/or GameStop employees have the final ruling regarding any mediation of the tournament.
