Not The Best...
This being a shooter set in the Civil War, is a big deal. But the graphics are just a tad lacking for PS2, when being compared to Call of Duty 2 and 3. The sound in the game is good, including the yelling on the battlefield and the fire of a gun. As a shooter it's not the best game, being a bit dry in gameplay, all of this combined makes a mediocre experiance. I liked the game, until I beat it. I wouldn't go back to play through it again, but I recomend this game because, theres not another game set in Civil War that I know of besides the sequel. It's a great way to learn about the conflict, which is only reason I gave it a 6.

OK
This is like any other ordinary game. The graphics are ps2 graphics, so there's not much to expect there. The gameplay is like most games, easy at first, but hard at the end. If you're a hardcore gamer go ahead. I couldn't beat the campaign, but maybe you can. Just remember one thing: KEEP YOUR FELLOW SOLDIERS ALIVE!

Realy good game, but where's the Multiplayer?
First of all, you'd think that a Civil War game would have the whole multiplayer "Union vs. Confederacy" thing right? well it doesn't. That's about the only thing i think is wrong. The gameplay is really fun, because you get really good instructions on what to do. It's really frustrating, though, when you have to run at a Gatling gun, and you keep getting shot, so your guy stops in pain, and before you can go again, you get shot. This happens repeatedly till you die. If you play it a few times though, you'll get it. The sounds are REALLY good, battle cries, Gatling gun firing, rifle firing, cannon fire, yelling, all sorted out perfectly. The graphics are good, because you see the smoke from guns, and you can tell the diff between allies and enemies (you can still waste your bullets on allies, they won't get hurt by you) Lasting appeal is really good also because you can go back and replay the levels you've beaten and play them, but you have to actually beat the levels to play them. That's about all i can think of, so if you still have the dinosaur PS2 like me, (or PS3) GET-THIS-GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best Civil War game for a PS2.
This game is great and at a good price. It some levels are short and others like Selma are a little long. It only also says 2 curse words that you would know are curse words and 1 other word that you don't even realize. Over all this is a good game.

Move foward or die where you stand
Civil war a nation divided is 1 of my favorite shooters on the ps2. Riviarling the 2 call of dutys, 4 medal of honors and 2 star wars battlefronts. It is set in one of the weirdest eras of a fps the american civil war. Normally they are world war 2 and more recently modern era. But as a fan of history a civil war fps i always wanted and still looking for a world war 1 fps. The gameplay was good with massive difference between levels and weapons. The amount of levels is not much but still a good game (I recommended this over Civil War:Secret Missions).

Bad game
I really hated this game. As soon as I started the first mission as a gray coat, i knew I would not like this game. The graphics were TERRIBLE. Almost unplayable. Then I started and of course, I didn't like it. Reloading took forever, now, I know that civil war guns didn't have clips or anything, but they over-exaggerate the reloading. So you just got to stay there for about 6-8 seconds while your character reloads. Definitely not worth a dollar price tag. I would post 5 . And then I still wouldn't buy it. And plus, THE ENEMIES DON'T DIE! I fired 18 shots into a guy before he died! Minor frame rate problems. As soon as I was halfway through bull-run, I boxed it back up, Put the receipt in the bag, and took it back to the store. If you want a GREAT civil war game, get civil war: secret missions. One of the best games I have ever played. I do not reccomend this game.

The only, and best civil war fps out there
Ok let me just say this, this game is incredibly entertaining, not only because u get to experience what happend during the civil war,but its made by the history channel. In my oppinion the history channel realy shows what goes on during these wars.....first off,let me start off with the pros and cons. Pros-Realism is great.Good variety of weapons-((Instead of just using a musket,u can also use other old rifles))-intullectual experience,Great challenge,Enemy AI very smart, for example, when they run out of ammo,if ur close enough to them, they will charge u and melee u,Allies AI is also good, but they seem to die quite quickly,U can play on both the union and the south.6 missions in each side((Total 12 missions))Alot of artifitial intelligance. There are iron sights on ur weapons. And last, this game shows how bloody the civil war was in comparrison to the other american wars. Cons-Storyline could have been better.Graphics seemed to be downgraded from the 360,ps3, and PC versions, for example,((Poor face textures, poor plant and rock textures))Sound could have been a little bit better. No sprint. And lastly,Even though your allies are smart, they seem to die quicker than the enemy. As you can see, there are more pros than cons....another hint, that this is a good game.I like this game because is captured the sound and experience of the civil war. Also there is a good variety of weapons, such as muskets, rifles, and crankable gatling guns.((Unions weapons seem to be better which what i thought realy captured the difference between the south and union))Also there is an Eye watering ending.Even though i thought the graphics were downgraded a bit,the games experience realy makes you not notice.Even though i beat the game,i find myself replaying the battles over and over........I personaly like playing on the south more, because im a fellow southener myself, but I do play for the union because I want to realy experience Both sides of the war, plus i am patriotic. I would recomend this game to any ps2((Or ps3,360,pc)) First person shooter gamer ot there.I loved this game, and u probily will too!

This game is GREAT!!!!!!!
Man what an awesome game, I think its one of the best ever! The loading is authentic, (but sped up), and the guns are authentic, even the uniforms are authentic! You even get to use Bayonets in this game! Though I prefer the Southern campaign, the North did have better weapons, (just like in the real war), in fact they even had a sniper rifle. Not only was this game fun, but it is also slightly educational, (during loading screens primarily, don't skip those). This game is definitely worth a buy, it is one of the best games ever! So if you like SOCOM, MoH, CoD, and other great games like that you should love this game!. I sure do! It has everything, stealth missions, frontal assault, ambush, and in the Northern campaign a "protect the castle" mission. So I highly recommend this game to all people who like shooters. The only thing that would make it better is if it had an alternate ending.

Great Game!
This is one great game to buy! I loved playing this game. I played it for 2 hours straight! The graphics aren't the best but it makes up for it with its storyline! If you like shooters, you should get this game. It was fun for me, and I think it would be fun for you! The sound of the cannons firing and explosives exploding sounds GREAT! Its AI's are kind of good, but they can challenge you! Everything in this game is realistic, from gatling guns to muskets, to snipers and Henry Rifles. You can learn about the civil war and have fun doing it. It teaches you about everything from the battle plans to the real locations. Another great thing is that you can pick from the North or the South, AKA the yankees and the rebels. I recommend this game to everyone!
