In the distant future, nanotechnology goes awry and nanomachines start to harvest the blood of humans in an effort to construct an army of monster machines. To defend the world from this certain apocalypse, players control a military cyborg who wields a powerful, shape-shifting Plasma Blade. Frustrating but Rewarding Story: The story in this game is rather lack luster. The whole picture isn't made obvious until near the end of the game and considering it is a rather short title if you don't spend exorbitant amounts of time wiping out enemies to increase your stats to max. The basic plot line that is revealed at the start of the game is that something has gone wrong on Nanotechnology Island and your being sent in to assist a scientist so that she can turn of the main computer and disable the nano machines that are causing all of the problems. Characters: The main character for this game is a rather blank slate to be honest. This is probably because the developers decided to add in two bonus characters and use the same storyline. The game offers not one, but two secret characters though. The first one is Keith who is your rival in your first play through and the second is Jaguar from Neo Contra. Outside of the playable characters you also have the female scientist, Michelle Baker, an apparent bum that lives in the sewers of the island, and General Raymond. Sound: This game is a mixed bag sound wise. While the sound effects for the plasma blade are rather standard fare and are enjoyable enough. The background music shifts from atmosphere inducing to nearly non-existent. In the early game the soundtrack helps to add to the atmosphere making things seem a lot more epic and intriguing. Though, this is lost in the latter half of the game where the background music is almost entirely drowned out by the sounds of combat. Graphics: The game is rather drab in appearance. Most of the colors in this game range from various shades of grey to a menagerie of browns. The colors help provide some atmosphere for the game considering your opponents are zombies created through the powers of nano technology, but the lack of music to add to the effect makes the visuals rather dull and lacking in inspiration. Gameplay: The game is a rather standard hack and slash game in terms of gameplay. The main way of dealing damage is to use combo attacks that allow your plasma blade to change into various weapons such as axes, great swords, scythes, massive hammers, spears, and a boomerang. Most of the standard enemies are easy to defeat for the most part since they tend to wander towards you with their arms flailing. On the other hand many of the bosses near the end of the game are highly challenging and will kill you several times before you figure out how to beat them effectively or just scrape by with a win by the skin of your teeth. Overall: The game is rather boring during combat against most of the basics enemies while playing on normal level difficulty, but the bosses near the last half of the game can prove to be a frustrating challenge, but you feel like you've accomplished something after you've beaten them. It gives you a sense of exhilaration to defeat them especially the last three bosses that you must defeat in a row with only a single life bar to work with. Recommendations: If you enjoy this game I'd recommend playing Genji: Dawn of the Samurai for the PS2 and Threads of Fate for the PS1 which can be downloaded from the PSN for $5.99. 4/14/12

Good Game For Its Time When i first saw this game, i was great another devil may cry rip-off. However after spending some time with this game i was blown away. The graphic are beautifully done for the time it was created. The gameplay itself run very smoothly along with very impressive sounds as you slash your way through many monsters/contraptions. the downside to this game is sometimes the levels can be repetitive. Oter than that its worth the play-through 9/9/10
