Gets a bad wrap
This game is JUST fine. Its not at all bad. It may not be what some hardcore gamers wanted or hoped for or expected , but it was a lot of fun. Im a casual gamer , and any casual gamer will be pleased. The game is easy to learn , it is fun to play , and the graphics are fantastic.
The game is very consistent with the feel of the Song of ice and fire Books and Series. Its dark , gritty , and real. The storyline is fantastic and follows Two very interesting characters. Their stories are very believable and fit in very nicely with the rest of the Canon from the series. Mors Westford is a great hero. I loved playing him. Less so with Allister , but STILL he also had his moments.
The ONLY complaint for me is that the game needs to contain more content. It is wayyyyyy to short. It is about 20 to 25 hours of game time , and it needs to be at least twice that much. I needed MORE.
Its combat system is very similar to dragon age :origins , but i found A Game of thrones far easier to master ( the SLOW down feature is tremendous) , and it was a LOT more fun. In MY opinion the gameplay blows Dragon age :origins out of the water ( at least as far as combat). the only part where dragon age beats a game of thrones is in game play length. it has about 80% MORE content. Hopefully if they ever do another in this series they give it at least twice the content
if you had a HUGE problem with this game my guess is that the REAL problem is with YOU. You expect far to much. I found 60 dollars a fair price to pay for for 25 hours of absolute fun that immersed me in a believable and rich world. I mean i spent almost 60 bucks taking my GF to the last movie we went to after drinks , popcorn , and candy. ( well 45 bucks anyway). And that was for 2 hours of a mediocrwe movie. So 60 bucks was very fair. I am playing through for the 2nd time and making different decisions and the game is changing quite a bit. I recommend it for Game of Thrones fans. if you arent a fan of that series , Then my guess is THAT may be the reason you dont like the game as much. With combat being pretty great but not the focus and not MIND Blowing , all you have left is the fantastic storyline!! BUT if you arent really into the game world , the storyline wouldnt be enough to make the game GREAT for you.

Not good at all
I preordered this game and i didn't get half way through the game the graphics are horrible and it's a shame cause I'm a huge fan of the show and this is nothing like the show, big mistake paying $65 for this game I'm trading it in hopefully put the money towards medal of honor warfighter or black ops 2 , the last of, beyond two souls this is where I should of spent my money. Before preordering check reviews , demos anything before dishing money. Disappointed.

Action gamers beware. RPG all the way
Personally, I am a huge George R.R. Martin fan and was looking forward to a great story with an epic plot. What I got was just that. The classic RPG; choose your dialogue and what you choose can help or hinder you as the story progresses is present along with a great script and admirable voice acting. The combat system was not an action gamer button mash, but a real time with slow motion capability to decide what abilities to use as your enemies steadily advance upon you, still keeping the edge of your seat combat without the pause and walkaway feel. If you want to mash the buttons and shred your foes, this game will be a disappointment to you straightaway. I think the combat system is still very entertaining and gives you a feel of strategy as combat unfolds. The music takes me back to the show and was used well to build up the mood; although, there were cases where the music sort of ... ran out. The graphics are closer to a really good PS2 game and not really what is expected of a PS3, but considering I am going to replay the game with different character builds and try different story options to see how the game unfolds with the changes, speaks to it's replay value. By now, there have been a lot of really positive reviews and a lot of really negative ones. Personally, I would say rent it and give it a real honest shot. Love it or hate it, do yourself the favor and try it. A final note, I played this game on a PS3 and I did not have any noticeable glitches or bugs. I don't know what other gaming platforms other reviewers had to give such a negative review on bugginess, but they could be isolated incidents. Cheers.

Great Concept and Storyline, Decent Game
Being a long time fan of the books, I found myself enjoying the storyline of this game. Most of the quirks of Martin's writing exist in the story: it is a dark, morbid story with multiple twists. While being a book reader or a viewer of the show is helpful to know the back story to some of the characters seen (only about 3-4 from the show) and places visited, it is very possible to play it without having known anything about either. The gameplay of the game is decent enough and provides a pretty ample challenge. The graphics aren't impressive, but are decent enough. The sound is where the developers really botched up though, there are a few scenes where the music cuts off and starts up again and can distract away from an otherwise intriguing scene.
Overall, this is a game with a great, memorable storyline and is definitely worth a try if you are a fan of the series, or rpg's in general.

Great game for a great series!
I was hesitant to purchase this game due to the initial negative reviews, but after playing the game I was pleasantly surprised. The combat system for this game is similar to that from Dragon Age. However, there are several distinct differences in the way you select abilities and the slow motion effect. This game is not the hack and slash RPG like what we have seen in Skyrim. The story behind the game is amazingly scripted. You gain a valuable insight to the back story of Game of Thrones. The voice acting is one of the best I have seen in an RPG. It lives up to the excitement I get from watching the television series. If you are a fan of the books and series, then this is a game you must have.

Horrible
Worst game I have ever played. Boring plot and dialogue nothing like the books or show. Possibly the worst graphics I've seen on a PS3 game.

This game was horrible
You would hope for a better game considering the series and the books were good. But this game was setting you up for disappointment. You can't actually fight people, you just click what attack to do on them and they just swing and swing until your enemy is dead. Don't waste your money on this game.

Not so much
I was expecting the game to be bad when i preordered it with it being based on a book and series but what i got was a total flop. This game is much worse then expected even knowing it was a flop i hope my interest in the books and series would make up for a bad game, however the game is just boring. From the story line to the graphics it looks like they just rushed it out with little to no thought about making a good game just to get it out while the name is hot. Be warned do not waste your money on this game not even worth 20 dollars in my opinion. However i am forcing myself to play it as hard as it is for me i must suffer for making the mistake of buying it before checking reviews :( .

Great for fans of the series (books and TV)
If you have never read the Game of Throne book or the rest of the series, or seen the show then this will be an average game for you. If you love the universe that George R R Martin created and want to add another layer onto that then this game is for you. The author helped create this story and you can tell it fits right in with the books. If you are looking for mindless shooting and fighting then this probably isn't your top choice. Great story leads the way on this game, great inclusion of elements from the books and TV show.
