Good Game, OK Music, Awful Presentation
Some set lists seem like they're just put together by random rather than how they fit together and flow into one another. Nothing about "Kryptonite" makes me think about "Shout it Out Load". That, and could they have picked longer songs? For a party game there are some lengthy songs that have repetitive, or just plain boring, segments.
Multiple venues featured songs or artist I don't like or even worse with songs that I actually do like but are book ended or buried by songs I can't stand. Take the Aqueduct venue for example, every song, excluding "Why Bother?", I put on mute. Motley Crue, Thin Lizzy and Blink-182 have far better songs, especially for a guitar based game, to have had included.
Plus, after four main games, why are we still having to play notes for other instruments? There's no reason to have to play keyboard notes on guitar in "Du Hast". I guess it's to add to the difficulty but as a guitarist / bassist, it stands out like a sore thumb and just comes off as insulting and lazy.
I don't have the drums so I can't speak for how gameplay is for them but guitar is solid enough. I just wish there was better music to go along with it.

Best Guitar Hero game
This game is the best Guitar Hero game ever. Warriors of Rock is okay and Legends of Rock is good too. But this game is just brilliant and improves on the previous games in the series. I mean seriously? World Tour was kind of a failure on all levels. The only good Rock Band there is is the Beatles one. This game is just epic.

A Welcome Overhaul
"Oh no," I hear you cry. "Not another Guitar Hero game." Sure, Activision are pushing out a variety of rhythm based games but Guitar Hero 5 has pretty much been given an engine overhaul. Gone are the individual instrument careers, no more hunting online for players with different instruments (I've spent many hours trying to get one online game to kick in due to no-one being on a mic that particular day), additional challenges and smoother looking graphics make this a welcome addition to any Guitar Hero collection. I'm not even going to compare it to Rock Band or Rock Band 2. I enjoy Rock Band just the same as I do Guitar Hero. Personally, if you own either then why wouldn't you own both if you enjoy this style of game? Guitar Hero veterans will notice menu differences right off the bat but it doesn't take long to navigate your way around and playing the online competitive games will soon get you familiarized with the new online modes. Out goes the "Battle" mode (which I miss somewhat) and in comes "Rock Fest," "Team Rock Fest" and "Team Pro Face Off." The usual "Band Vs Band" game remains (and yes, you will still have to find a standard band of guitar, drums, bass and optional vocals) but all the other variations allow for any combination of instruments. Three guitars and one bass? You got it. Four vocalists? Go ahead. This makes finding a game quick and easy to jump into with other online gamers. "Rock Fest" and "Team Rock Fest" will have you selecting a track list and then each player votes for a specific mode. From Pro Face Off rounds to Momentum (all players start on Medium and the difficulty increases with note streaks; get on up to expert and you'll earn more points than the other players). Some modes are better than others but this will be a personal preference and it won't take long for you to find your mode of choice. Career mode is where most of the revamping has taken place. You'll find your regular venue layout with a track list for each, but now you have challenges for each track which will award you additional stars if you complete them. These can be for hitting a specific note streak, playing all notes with up strum, refilling star power or whammying sustains to name a few. But the nice touch is the ability to switch from guitar or bass before you start the song without backing out to the menu. If the next song has a bass challenge, simply hit the required button and you are now on bass. If the following song has a guitar challenge, switch it back with one click.

Guitar Hero 5 is worth it's weight in gold For "PS3 ION Drummers"
Ok, First off I like Guitar Hero and Rock Band so there's no prejudice between the two.. I don't play the guitar or the mic, I'm an all-round Drummer. I have the ION drum set"PS3", and with the previous Rock Band 1 and 2 and Guitar hero WT, 4 and Metallica, I have always had a problem with using the cymbals with the snare drum or cymbals with the Toms, whenever I would use the Cymbals in conjunction with the snare or toms the game would pause, making it very frustrating. Guitar Hero 5 fixed this problem, now I can bang on cymbals, snare, and Toms without any problem. GT5 has a great selection of songs, "Rammstein kicks butt", Graphics have improved and everything is nice and crisp. The only problem I've encountered is some of the songs are of mediocre quality but this can be overcome by increasing the volume on your TV and or Surround Sound. Besides that issue the game is great and well worth the money. Guitar Hero 5 is another great add on to your Guitar Hero/Rock Band collection. Enjoy!!!

Great Game!!
Im not sure why so many people are giving this game a bad review. This game is just great, the band features alone just make you want to play as a group even more. The sound track has some of my most favorite songs so that in itself made me go out and buy this game. The shading effect are improved in the game, making the atmosphere feel like a real concert. Now there are a few(very few things I dont like) the version the have of "Only happy when it rains by Garbage, they could have picked a better version of that song, its almost sad cause its one of my favorite songs from the group. That is about the only thing I have found bad about the game. My most favorite addition is Johnny Cash, he is just a legend and did a great job with his character and song. So in closing if you have loved prior Guitar Hero games, then you will really love this game. IF you like rock period you will love this game. Don't listen to nay sayers.

Guitar Hero 5 is the Greatest Game Ever!!!
I don't know what some of theese people are thinking, but this game is great, let me start with the "Graphics" they are simply amazing they almost look real. Second is the "Guitar Hero 5 Guitar Controller" it's responds perfectly, and the Slider really personalizes your guitar playing style, The New Slider is a lot easier to use cause you can feel what touch pad your touching so you can nail those solos. Next is the Setlist, Its does have a lot of bad songs, but it still has a huge ammount of good songs. Thats in My Opinion. Ok fourth is the Gameplay, "Best of All in This Review", The Gameplay is the best i've ever seen in a music game, Any Combination of Instruments you choose, Most Music Games, You would have to hope you get the instrument you, For Example (My friends come over and one of them takes the Instrument I wanted Now I have To use a different Instrument), and its a lot more challenging on Expert than Rock Band, on Rock Band I can get a 100% on most song on experts, on Guitar Hero I Get 3 or 4 Stars, But it fun. I'm about Finished with my review hope you understand how great Guitar Hero 5 is but if not Go Buy The Beatles Rock Band and see if thats any fun, they're not even a Rock Band.

WORST. GAME. EVER.
First off let me just say I'm an avid Guitar Hero fan and love the franchise, with that said, I have to say DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME! The songlist is awful, the gameplay is off even after calibrating. The challenges are the only redeeming factor. The fact that you can import songs from World Tour is a plus but unfortunately its only about 20 of them and they arent even the good ones. Is it any wonder they are giving away Guitar Hero Van Halen with a pre-order? My main pet peeve is the vocals..on hard on World Tour I can pull 95-100% on any given song but not on 5. I'm lucky if I break 80%,and what happened to the vocal fireball? Now we get a green line with a barely visible gold ball? And we have to try and get it to match with the vocal boxes that come down the line? I think they tried to get this out before Rock Band Beatles so they could try and compete but unfortunately they fell short. Im trading it in for Lego Rock Band and Im done with the Guitar Hero games. I'll stick to Rock Band. There is tons more songs to dl for Rock Band than for GH anyway. I hope this helps any and all who may consider this a good buy.

Looks great!
Well, this guitar hero game looks great. It doesn't really matter to me what songs are on this game. But I like the new features it has like Rockfest and all the other ones. I have played Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, so I like the new features for this game.
