Best Fighting Game
This game is very well made. The colorful presentation of the visuals and attention to detail is good, the music and sound effects are good. The play mechanics are very fine tuned and responsive. I have been playing online matches everyday lately and though I lose more than I win, I still find it very enjoyable. Being a huge fan of SNK games, I can say that this is the most fun KOF to play by far. Of course, the fact that it doesn't have a traditional arcade mode to it is a very big dissapointment to me. I do agree with that complaint. I would have liked to have seen a revised story in the beginning of the instruction booklet and maybe even scrolling on the screen during the opening intro scenes. And then a boss fight with some dialougue would have been nice too. The kind of dialouge that was in Art of fighting 2 would be my choice. Character specific taunting that's very tongue-in-cheek (SNK's trademark). I hope KOF 13 has these things. But basically, the reason you play fighting games is to just fight anyway, and that part is great. The game is a very refreshing addition to the KOF series. I can't wait for KOF 13...but what I really wish for is that SNK will bring back the Art of Fighting or Fatal Fury series for a re-birth!

Love King of Fighters, but this one disappointed me
I really love playing King of Fighters games. I own a good deal of them. The thing about this one though that let me down was the limited character selection. As more King of Fighters came out, you may have not gotten more characters, but new ones. They did give a few new ones this time around, but to loss so many favorites is sad. Don't get me wrong, I really like this one, but the characters thing was a major let down for me. Another thing I thought was wierd was the way the game went away from having a boss at the end. The arcade mode is more of a beat the time mode. There is not any incentives to beat the game over and over again. Unless lets say your trying for achievements(XBOX 360) or tropies(Playstation 3). I'd give this one a rental, unless your just die hard enough to want every single KoF.

King Of Fighters XII is really great, dont believe the bad hype
When you get down to the fighting, this game is better than Street Fighter IV. The combos are so fluid and its a really fast fighter when you play against a friend. The Online play can get really jello-like at times, but dont worry, the developers of the game are coming up with a patch within the next week to make it better, after that online play will be smooth like SF IV's online play. I have played some pretty good matches online so dont let my previous observation discourage you. All the animations and backgrounds are 100% hand drawn and are really beautiful at worst. There is really no story mode but the fighting action is really fast paced and thats really what matters in a fighting game. This game won best of E3 for a reason, and its living up to that title and once the online play is patched up, this game will be one of the best fighters of the past few years. Yes, there are only 22 fighters in the game, but its totally worth it, they're all great to play with. DLC will be coming soon too with more fighters.

Rent before you buy!!!
To tell you the truth I'm not very good at this game but I am a huge fan, that's probably it was a huge let down. for starters no boss only an arcade time trial that consists of only five three on three matches, while the AI is kind of challenging it doesn't help the game at all on all of it's flaws . Second if you are an online fighter you better forget about this game the lagging on this game is horrible and unplayable while the lobbies hold up to eight people you'll just get frustrated when you turn comes if it's not the lag you will be disconnected . A lot of pixalation on the characters on close up. No unlockables what you see is pretty much what you get , I wouldn't recommend this game if you are an online junkie, but if you have a lot friends to invite to your house then this game is for you.

The Best
Kof is simply the best fighting game out for the next generation theres a couple minor flaws like no boss but hey its suppose 2 be played online so go get it !!! if you are a really huge fan of the series then go get it if your not a huge fan of the series then GO GET IT lol nah but seriously guys the game is pretty good and theres soon to be downloadable content that was already previously announced so you dont gotta worry about things such as stages characters songs blah blah blah. and most reccomended for ps3 . if you buy it on the xbox itll be a waist of time but if the xbox is the only thing that you currently own in your household then hey go buy it but overall outta 10 this game gets a 10. so with no more hesitation get up right now get dress and go buy this a must!

One of the Smoothest Fighters Around
Reborn is exactly what King of Fighters 12 is. It has undergone a complete graphical face lift unique to its own style, reborn in high definition. Not only that, but this game supports up to 1080p. I have never played a fighter with such smooth response. It is pretty obvious that this years King of Fighters is focused on the fight. There is no storyline, but that is no big deal, because most people play fighters for the action and online replay value. There have been some issues with the online perfomance, but I am confident that this problem will be corrected as it is very vital to this game's success. King of Fighters 12 is a great alternative to Blaz Blue and Street Fighter IV. It is true to its roots and provides a different flavor to the current generation fighters. King of Fighters 12 is a definite contender and must have for fighter fans.

Not all you'd want
The arcade mode is shorter than in most games. There is no final boss and its only 4 fights with teams of 3. Its mostly based upon a time trial kind of thing now. The game is really disappointing if you have no web access. Its main purpose is to pretty much fight online.... but then again.. that's most of the purposes for lots of other games. Character roster is pretty okay, though there aren't many of the good ones that I like. I miss K' and Kula, those were two good characters. The breaker system is pretty cool, though I still don't know how to use it. Mai doesn't appear in this game, so sorry fanboys. And to the many many adoring fans of Iori Yagami, sorry to say that he doesn't have the purple flames, and I'm mostly down because of this. Because Iori was one of my 3 characters. but if you have a group of friends that like this, then get it. Its a good online-fighting game

More directed at the existing reviews than anything...
So, here's the thing, folks: KoFXII is, thus far, only available in arcades. Most of us haven't even seen, let alone, played the game in person. However, despite that, most of you seem to be confusing a PRE-view with a RE-view, and you're submitting your thoughts as such. Now, that's not to say that you can't have a pre-formulated opinion on what you've seen so far, but many of you are either bashing it into the ground or making it out to be some sort of gift to the world from the 2D fighting game gods. lol Here's my take: Those that have not yet played it, give it shot before just assuming it's going to be the best game evaaaar. Those that have played it, give it ANOTHER shot -- sometimes you have to dig a little deep to find the true charm of a game. Am I going to buy this game? Absolutely, 100% definitely. I believe that this game has had a tremendous amount of hard work and love put into it, and that, alone, is worth supporting to me. Sure, the mechanics might be a bit lacking at first, but considering the fact that SNK had to build this game completely from scratch (hand-drawn, I might add), I think some slack should be allowed on this installment. Like any fighter, support from the community will only help lead to bigger, better future titles. :)

cannot wait!
In terms of 2d fighters this seems to be the next visual evolution. I have not seen animation this smooth since street fighter 3. The fact that the entire game is in 2D amazes me. Of course with all the extra frames of animation, the gameplay will be slower than your standard 2d fighter but SF3 is slow too. It looks like a more defensive based type of game and I am down with that. This and Blazblue are bringing back the reign of 2D fighters! Makes me wish SF4 was actually 2D looking. With the technology these days, they can really bring these 2D sprites to life.

From Watching an HD Preview...
I just watched two HD clips from this game and it does look really good and a solid fighter, but the framerate is really lacking. Street Fighter 3 had more frames per second than KoFIV. Even though a 2D game has solid graphics...it needs a solid framerate to back it up. I was going to get this game without doing any research (because I'm a huge figher fan), but after getting SFIV and the crap that it was, I'm glad I looked a little further into KoFVII.
