JLA...
This is the first game where you can play as Superman,The Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman; all in the same game. As a loyal fan of the DC Universe I was excited about this product. Let me begin by saying it's BEAUTIFUL: The animation. The graphics are full, classic, and detailed. The cameras are also very much your friends in this game, having a 360 degree panning view in-flight is very fun, and there is an intriguing, up-close zoom. For fans of the Justice League Unlimited series, I highly recommend this product. Many of the scores and subtle synths are taken directly from the show. The villains featured are Brainiac and Gorilla Grodd, as well as some interesting creations. This game is very straight-to-the-punch--the storyline, a series of catastrophic events, begins immediately. The game is soon over, but with each play-through levels and experience are gained, different levels of difficulty are unlocked, and new heroes are made available. A kinship and familiarity is also developed with the heroes while playing and many of the heroes' true potential only is revealed with a mastery of the controls. Using the "L" button is pivotal. It triggers your superpowers, allowing Superman his Steel armor in his skin or The Flash his supersonic speed. The writing, storyline, and characters are very rich in this game, and the Boosts systems allows for plentiful customization. Add to that a list of costumes and you have an interface with room for personal style. The voice acting is terrific, too, and fans of Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Alien: Resurrection) will be much satisfied here. The tension between Batman and Superman I felt was misconstrued, however. Wonder Woman tempering between the two of them isn't in her nature as an Amazonian. I feel Superman and Batman have an understanding, respectful equality, and independent partnership. As a fan of the Martian Manhunter, I feel this game accurately captures his essence, sensitive and noble. Possibly the most accurate portrayal. My only wish would be for more heroes. I am really missing Hawkman. Or I can only imagine what it would be like to play as Red Tornado, Plastic Man or the Atom. Nonetheless, the alternate heroes are very rewarding. The PSP Justice League Heroes is fortunate to have such great characters as Green Arrow, Huntress, Supergirl, and Aquaman, to name but a few. The environments are interactive and deeply well-crafted, with "destructible elements:" Trucks, buses, poles, soda pop machines, beehives. Various settings featured such as the city Metropolis, the Watchtower, and Deep Space.
