New Spin to the Castlevania Series
I have played alot of Castlevania games as I got older. Every single one has made me crave more, or sequels. This game makes me crave another fighter with a bigger roster of characters. The controls for the Wii remote and Nunchuck are simple enough, but some fights take some time to figure out how to beat the character. I highly reccomend this to people who need a break from Super Smash Bros. and Zelda. Also, I wish that they would've switched out Golem for Soma Cruz.

Good Concept, Poor Execution
Castlevania Judgment trades the series' signature hack and slash gameplay for a 1 on 1 fighting formula...but don't get too excited. It's a good concept, really--but everything about this game feels like a missed opportunity. The combat is VERY simplistic, resembling more of a competitive action game than a true arcade fighter (think Power Stone or Super Smash Bros., only much less polished). Battles quickly devolve into pressing the same button 3 or 4 times, then tacking on a simple finisher to perform the one effective combo each character has. The inclusion of special items in the stages offers a little variety, but they're not particularly useful in a heated match.
Most of Castlevania's mainstay characters are here in some shape or form, but good luck recognizing them (Simon has been reduced to a skinny emo guy, Grant looks like a mummy, and Death is now some sort of robo-skeleton). To make matters worse, the story and spoken dialogue are awful...and the load times between matches aren't too fast either. On a positive note, the soundtrack is excellent--full of redone versions of classic Castlevania tunes.
As a long-time Castlevania fan, I really wanted to like Judgment...but it's a sub-par effort at best. If you do decide to give this one a try, I recommend using the Classic controller--which IS supported here, thankfully--as the standard controls involve shaking the wii remote continuously to attack, which can tire your wrist quickly.

Castlevania fans turn away
I bought this game over the summer. While it isn't the best game overall, especially in a series with as much acclaim as Castlevania, it CAN provide some degree of fun. The controls may seem dumb and frustrating, but the game does have a degree of challenge to it. And no, the controls are not what's challenging. Certain stages can use the hazards around to make the already frustrating fight that much more frustrating. The array of characters is decent enough, although one should wonder why the heck Golem was included. At all. Being a huge fan of the series I felt disappointed that Richter wasn't included. The storyline leaves a lot to be desired. Through my 2.5 hour playthrough (That's all the time it took, this game is really really short.), I was constantly facepalming at the way they massacred the entire series characters and storyline. Even for an addict such as myself, this game doesn't give one the fix they need when they want a GOOD Castlevania game. Bottom line, while the game isn't as terrible as Simon's Quest, the game was a MAJOR letdown. If you own a Wii, and are willing to spend some extra cash, pick up a Wii Points card and buy Rondo of Blood. Rondo will be the best way to forget this monstrosity. Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Its a new taste to old characters
The thing about this game is that i was an experimental idea into the realm of fighters. Its not meant to be canon and its not meant to be super special, a hardcore castelvania fan will love it but to must others it could be a push off. Its fighting style is very well in-tuned to the Wii's controls but lacks the technical levels of Street Fighter or Mortal kombat so its not Tournament worthy. Its story is little but it does have some funny lines of dialogue. The voice actors are famous in the anime world and are well casted for each character and the character themselves are all fresh looking compared to there original sprite forms. Overall its just something to have some fun with and sure it can get old but if you have a friend it can be fun plus at the used price its worth it.

Great Castlevania Game!
I love that it is a fun combat game and I love that their isn't that much weapons. I love the selection for the characters and I'm glad the game has a arcade! However it takes forever to save because you must battle like 7 to 12 people to complete a course. Other than I love this game.

Wrong console
My preference is the classic style of castlevania gameplay that we all love playing. Despite that, I wouldn't really say that this is a terrible game but for the one problem that's staring me right in the face. Why oh why did they put this on the Wii?! The Wii is quite possibly the worst console for fighting games(save for SSBB) If this had been released on any other console the review would have been so much better. Developers need to figure out that fighting games belong on the PS3 and(dare i say it) the 360. Not the Wii.

It's not the same but it is still great.
As a hardcore Castlevania fan, I was surprised to see a fighter title in the series. But since I have been playing Castlevania sine i was 4, i was willing to give it a shot. Seeing my favorite character on the cover (Simon) also helped to sell it. Once I put it in the Wii and started i found my self mesmerized by the design of the levels how great they depicted the commonly seen levels in the series. The camera style adds to the intensity of the game play. Adding signature moves to the game was a great idea. Along with haveing a mode that has the player doing chalenges to make it through the castle to collect unlocks, There is an arcade mode to unlock players and has the main storyline to explane why the heros and villans have come together and waged war with each other. online is fun, and its a great game to play with friends!

Back to the Castle....YAY!
I kept reading reviews from other sites and magazines that said Judgment is at best mediocre. I most deffinitely disagree. I love this game. Personally I think some of the reasons the characters have for fighting one another is questionable, but the overal plot is good enough for a fighting game. I'm glad there's finally a game that can bring characters like Simon and Maria together in one counsel. (even bringing back some old favorites that havent been heard from in a while like Cornell and Sypha). I love the voice acting in this game as well. I think each character is done greatly with a voice that suits well. The gameplay is fun too, one you get the hang of the controls (personally I use the gamecube controler) you can execute some exciting combos. The new character design is also great, although some don't look like their previous selves (especially Grant) they still look amazing with an anime style that still keeps the dark mood even for the bright pink characters like Maria. So those who've said Castlevania shouldn't be a fighting game, I have to respectivly disagree and say I think they've done an outstanding job.
