A Perfect Game
There are not many games that I would say are perfect, but this is one of them. Everything in this game just worked for me. The best part of this game would have to be its art style. It feels like a playable painting. There are different ways to get this game now, on the Wii, PS2, or a download on the Playstation Network for PS3. If you can, please play this game, you will not be sorry.
I got this game on my birthday along with Fragile Dreams, I had no idea about either game, literally I just went up to the guy and asked him to pick out two RPGS that are high with reviews. And those two games are what I got. So I went home not feeling like the games would be anything special because I have been disappointed with so many RPGS it's not even funny. But when I stuck Okami in I was fascinated with it. I loved just about everything about it. Of course I was in love with anything Japanese related (still am) and I loved how everything felt like you we're walking through a canvas. The use of the wii remote is incredible though it was difficult in the beginning, and it is kind of tricky and confusing at first, but it isn't really a big deal, because the overall game was splendid, from the laughs when Waka appears or when you watch Amaterasu attack at strangers. It is a fun game, and it's my favorite game.
A must have
Awesome in every way, characters, story, gameplay etc. Surely the best game ever (for me). The screenshots of the game are (at least some of them) from okami hd, so the graphics aren't that good as okami is a bit of an old game.
An artists dream world...
the premise is great, for people like me, who like casual fun, not too much pressure, and just to enjoy the adventure. besides that, as an artist by trade, i can appreciate it... my job as the wolf is to bring beauty and life into a world filled with darkness. which is not unlike my job as an artist. the storyline is fun, (albeit a little drawn out occasionally. i tend to skip to the informative parts ), the pace is fast, and it is appropriate for all ages.. i cannot stress enough how gorgeous the graphics are. the brushwork which is the main tool of the wolf/main character can be a bit awkward... but all in all i give it a YAY!
This game is beautiful, entertaining, challenging, and an absolute joy on the Wii. When I first bought this game, I knew very little about the plot, but decided to get it on a whim after hearing good reviews and seeing some screenshots. It has since then become my favorite game by far.
The story of the game is based on Japanese mythology. You play as Ameterasu, the sun goddess in the form of a wolf. For a large part of the game, you work to destroy demons and restore the cursed land of Nippon to its former beauty. After that, you continue to dispel evil, all while slowly regaining your godly powers.
This game is visually stunning. Playing it is like walking into an ink and watercolor painting, and the music is similarly lush. Even while battling bosses, I sometimes marvel at how even the enemies in this game are fascinating and artistically rendered.
Gameplay itself is heavily combat based, but manages not to feel repetitive. Different weapons can be used in different ways, enemies are distinctly different from each other, and many sidequests are available to be played. With the exception of one point in the storyline, the player is allowed to roam the island of Nippon and complete the main storyline as quickly or slowly as they choose.
The main storyline, while interesting and unique, is very long. After two 50+ hour attempts, I have still not finished more than 2/3 of the game, although I intend to try again soon. That said, I believe this game is a must-play because of the unique concept and beautiful art.
Totally epic and incredible.
I had wanted this game for a long time and when I finally got it.. I found out that the game is as valuable as gold. I will tell you what I mean right now. Games today are all really repetitive and boring but when Capcom decided to make this game using the company Clover Studios into PS2 and later into Wii thanks to Ready at Dawn, it was the best idea ever!! The games graphics are just like Japanese art, which makes it look AWESOME. The gameplay is really cool and also the idea of using the Wiimote to paint with the Celestial Brsuh was really cool. The music is EPIC and even tough its kinda weird that characters dont speak, they just murmur, it makes the game even better!!! But definetly the best part of the game is the story and Replay Value. Let me start with the story. SPOILER ALERT!! The story is about how after the demon Orochi has been locked away by hero Nagi and goddess Shiranui, it comes back to the land thanks to Susano. Sakuya, a wood sprite calls forth Amaterasu to save the land from Orochi. The idea that the whole game is based on Japanese mythology makes it really cool. Continuing, Amaterasu must collect all of her 13 Celestial Brush Abilities to defeat Orochi. Along the way kiling lots of demons. However, when the player has 9 of 13 Brush Techniques, then player fights Orochi and after an epic fight, Orochi is defeated and peace returns to the land... Or did it??? After that, we find out our story is.. JUST STARTING!!!! Amaterasu must still collect all 13 of her brush techniques and eliminate the rest of the demons across Nippon. Along the way, we hear rumors of a Lord of Darkness called Yami and after settling things right in the northern region, Kamui, a myterious place called the Ark of Yamato opens that after Amaterasu comes in and defetas all of the demons inside, the terrible Emperor and Lord of Darkness, Yami appears and Amaterasu must defeat it to restore the land completely. Overrall, the story is quite epic and it literrally makes you cry at the end, luckly after completing it we can complete it AGAIN (just in case we did not get enough 40 hours or so of Okami). SPOILERS OVER The game has a lot of secret brush techniques and unlockables making it have a really good replay value. The only bad things about this game is that moving the wiimote to paint with the brush is kinda tough sometimes, also, the idea of some idiot to TAKE AWAY THE CREDITS AT THE END is totally unfair, but luckly doesnt really make you hate to game. So to summarize, it is an awesome and really cool game with some bad things but anyways, if you dont have it BUY IT!!
okami is awesome
well the art direction is amazing to say the least but there is a reason why i gave this game a 8 for gameplay. its because the nunchuck is just annoying at time i mean there was only once were the wii remount just stopped working and you need it to work but besides that the sound direction is be on epic i mean the cgi cutsence really do make it look like its made from japanesse style art work the lasting appeal with the new game plus makes it better if you collected all the stray beads overall i can recommend this game to a friend more so the ps2 version but thats for a different time
THIS IS PERFECT
I bought this game when it came out and it was PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved the gameplay and I loved fighting yami!
Most Amazing and Touching Game.
This game is amazing. It made me fall in love with Japan. It is very touching, and will tug at your heart strings. I love the free roam, and all side quests and stuff. The music is amazing to. I love how things in the game relate to old japanese folktales. And this game takes a long time to beat the first time around. My first time I played, it took over 40 hours for me to beat it.This game is also really funny. And the fighting is unique. And the graphics might look bad, but it's because the game makers tried to make it look like the whole game is watercolor painting, and I love the way it looks. This game is my all time favorite and will forever remain in a special place in my heart.
A very good game
This is a very good game, i enjoyed playing it and it wasnt just a game that last for 30 minutes lol, its a long story where you play as a wolf, sun god named "Amaterasu", your mission is to restore beauty and order to a bleak overrun by evil. i highly recommend this game to everyone.
