Dog poo in the backyard
I haven't played too far into this game yet but from what I played it wasn't anything special. I like the dogs though there cute and the story line is a little sad but kinda cool. You have to get pass other animals in the backyard like bears and alligators.

LUV THIS GAME!
This game is sooooo cute! After i played it through i helped my little sister play it and we both had a blast together! Anyway, this game is great overall, the controls are pretty simplistic, and i thought the grapihcs were really great! Even though this game is supposed to be for children around 7-10 i really enjoyed it and I'm 16! The cute puppies and the storyline really kept me playing this game and you will want to too! Many people i know are hard core gamers that play call of duty and gears of war, THEY even liked this game! The gaem starts out when you are in this cute little puppy town and your brother or sister is very sick. (You get to choose if your a boy or a girl, and what gender your sibling is.) Then she faints at a festival and the docter says she can't be treated. You decide to go to the dog island to get a special flower that will cure your sister. Sounds good? Buy it know!

The Cutest Game Around
In The Dog Island video game, the player gets to choose their own dog from 48 dog types, give it a name, and select its gender. Once you create your dog, you are told that your sibling is sick. Your dog's mother calls the doctor, but the doctor cannot cure your sibling. He tells you to go to an island called The Dog Island and see a doctor called Doctor Potan and ask him to come back to you hometown of Puroro. I found that this game was totally addicting and that I would play for many hours at a time. For people who love action and adventure games, than The Dog Island is not for you. While it is an insanely cute game, it is not all that challenging. Your tasks are mainly to help other dogs in need. These dogs will usually require you to find an item for them by sniffing. What got me most interested in the game was the awesome storyline. I played the game for hours on end because I was so curious to know what was going to happen next. It actually made me want to finish the game. I found the saddest part in the game came at the end. I won't reveal that though, that's for you to figure out! This game is wonderful! If I was asked if I wanted some kind of sequel to The Dog Island, I would totally say yes!

The cutest game you'll ever play
I'm a 17 year old girl who just loves anything thats adorable. The 'AWW~' factor happeneds alot with me. This game is sooo cute, I cant help but play more. The music is uplifting and really complemants the game, I enjoy the opening song the most, its so cute! You can be any kind of dog you want and in some select breads you can pick the color too. You can also custimize your dog to your own personal style which I find is a cute extra to buy with your rewards from the quests you do. The game itself is based on sniff and fetch missions which make the game cute. The controls are easy so that anyone can play and not get stuck with controls, if you forget one you can just go to the menu and you can find it there. If you like the dogs then this game is for you, I would recomend this game to anyone who loves dogs even if they dont have one. You are left in constant 'AW' over the cuteness of the game.

Let it be what it is and you'll love it
First off let me just say that I'm probably not the target audience for this game. I'm a 30 something male with no children who traditionally loves adventure games akin to Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Okami etc. But a video game based on the small dogs with oversized heads franchise (known to some as The Dog, to others like me as STRANGE RATIO!) was just too much to pass up. So I picked it up. At ** bucks this game is totally worth the purchase. Compared to other games of the 'adventure' genre, it's not very original, but the overall cute factor really does make up for it. Essentially the entire game is comprised of various Fetch Quests which involve your character (you can choose to be one of forty odd breeds of dogs like Beagle, Rottweiler, Basset Hound, Poodle, Akita, Husky- the list goes ON and ON and ON) learning how to sniff and running around the Dog Island finding things for other characters, all in the name of finding a cure for your brother/sister (you can decide the gender), who is a non-playable character that gets sick at the beginning of the game. There are a few varied activities such as fishing and mild puzzle solving (not really- they sort of hold your hand through anything resembling a challenge) but for the most part there's a lot of sniffing and digging. It's a Dog Island, after all. For example, the Doctor on the island (a very likeable Beagle named Potan) will say "fetch me these three herbs from the field and they can be used to help your little sibling" and he tells you what each herb smells like, and you go out and look for it. Your sniff meter gets higher as you get closer and once you're right on top of it, you dig in the ground and out it comes. Before you can find the second herb though, you'll need the nurse's help, who herself requires you to find her something altogether different. And so on and so forth. The Dog Island isn't a technological breakthrough or innovative in concept but its charm makes it a game worth playing nonetheless. With customizable hats, glasses etc you can dress up your dog in any number of different ways and you can name him anything you want too. The other characters he meets along the way are equally cute and varied, and the music is surprisingly catchy, and harmonically stimulating. Tuneful acoustic guitars and nice rhythms, even if it is somewhat compressed. It might have been nice to have utilized the nunchuck attachment for more sophisticated interface, (as it stands it's basically a point-and-click adventure), and camera manipulation is a little too sensitive for my tastes (moves quite quickly and sometimes gives me a headache) but as a budget title, I really can't complain. The overall experience is still a fun one. And, no kidding, I catch myself saying "Awww" out loud every once in awhile too because those dogs are just that cute. I haven't played all the way through the game yet, but despite its relatively standard (read: predictable) story line I find the characters to still be compelling and fully intend to play all the way through.

Adorable, but not for the hardcore gamer
The DOG Island for the Wii is based of the artist collection of THE DOG, with their big heads and little noses, it is hard not to imagine yourself cuddling with one of these cute little characters and taking them home. Lets not get ahead of ourselves though, not like the other games featuring dogs or THE DOG (like on the PSP) where you care and cuddle your pup, this is an action/adventure game. Now even though their looks are irresistible this one player game play may be some what tedious according to IGN, GameSpy, and NGamer, the controls are somewhat difficult to maneuver your player (the dog you chose to play as, that’s right you get to chose from a verity of the dogs to play as in the game) as you only use the Wiimote. Now this would be a plus for little kids as they would only have to worry about one control, but for the rest of us that have developed better coordination skills the lack of the precise movement of the analog stick while trying to sneak up on enemies makes what should be simple extremely difficult. Now that enemies are mentioned makes one wonder what is the actual plot of the story? There is a full story devolved here and it all starts off with your brother dog being ill and needing a medicine to cure him (a certain flower found on Dog Island). You find yourself traveling across the ocean with dog pirates to jump off of a ship to swim onto a massive Island. It has been said by NGamer that “…we're talking a bigger game world than a Great Dane from the perspective of a Chihuahua.” There are different stages in which you can explore grass planes, snowy fields and even deserts. You interact with other adorable dogs on the island as you all have a sort of bark-talk with subtitles (don’t worry you don’t have to study a new language) as they will aid you in your journey. It seems as though you will spend most of the game sniffing things out to collect different items needed and about your enemies, they mostly jump around in the same place and for the most part are avoidable. However if you happen to be enticed to get a closer look you won’t ever be directly attacked they kind of glare at you and hiss removing a heart form the all to familiar heart bar at the top of the screen. How can you fight back, well you can’t, but don’t lose hope you can still sneak up behind your enemy and make an adorable barking/howl to daze your enemy. If the enemy happens to be hording and special items at that point you are able to take them. As stated before, sneaking up on an enemy is made more difficult as the game only uses the Wiimote and is not as precise as it would be with the analog stick as you point and click using an icon of a dog paw on the screen to tell your character what direction to go in. Some of the most noted parts in the game is as you are exploring the island after you get done with swimming your dog does a cute little shake to dry off (and the swimming part is fun too!), just like in Harvest Moon: It's A Wonderful Life the ability to gaze at the setting sun and watch stars appear in the peaceful color-changing sky is a peaceful and pleasant sight. The most noted and expected feature of the game is able to unlock items in the dog shop and being able add cute accessories to your dog such as hats and neckties. An Overview: The Graphics- are cute and cartoon/digitally realistic but nothing revolutionary, The Game play- is ok, it has a well thought out plot, but the enemies and fighting and tasks get tedious. Wiimote- Hard to accurately control your dog, but fun to click far ahead of him and make your puppy run faster, also the camera does not keep up with your dog and you have to manually move it by using the D-pad, which can end in a tail-chasing circle. It’s an adorable game, that should keep you entertained for an hour or two before you get board, however a hardcore gamer would easily find it boring with no point and be annoyed by the difficult controls.

For Dog Lovers
I've looked online for info about this game, and so far, I think it looks pretty fun. If you own a dog, or just like them, you may want to get this game when it comes out. Personally, I think I will wait to pre-order it until it's close to its release.
