Xbox 360 GameCom X40 Headset
its better than you think
this headset very good . if taken care of they will last sound quality is great as well. i use these to listen music play halo and talk to friends on high and it does not sound muffled.
better than turtle beach and tritton better price
I got these about a month ago and as far as introductory headsets go these are the best. $60 is a great price point for the quality that your are getting, all my friends on xbl heard me fine, there was no buzzing/electric current sound.
i have glasses and after several hours of gaming my head was not hurting like my head does when i use the tritton ax180. these headsets are a lot more sturdy than the other introductory headsets. they have been toddler tested and they still work.
i have no complaints if your on a budget and looking to head an outstanding headset this is a sure buy.
Good Price, Shoddy Mic
I bought these puppies two days ago. YES!, A whopping 2 days.
Today being 4/14/11 and I possibly used these for maybe 9 - 12 hours in that span of time. Firstly I did purchase these new at radio-shack and will be getting my full refund today. now time for the review.
The headphones themselves are very comfortable. You can lay back and relax if your a gamer that stretches out on the floor, If you like to lean and or wallow while playing (don't know why) You can do that with out worry of messing your mic up just simply flip it to hideaway space in the headband.
The sound is decent [ then again I have been playing with the Microsoft xbox360 "wireless" headset in original white which lasted about 3 years and gave terrible headaches ON NORMAL VOLUME] anyway the sound is good you can control the game chat volume as well as the game sound noise separately controlled. I will say that watching netflix late at night, or playing a game late at night, and your chick is sleeping next to you, or in the next room she wont hear anything access other then you getting your Junk kicked in the game. If your a bigger guy they are perfect for your jug-head, they fit comfortable the only thing is your ears get a little hot inside the super soft cushions.
But what angered me is the mic itself. Its a little stupid plastic nub of a microphone that chooses what to pick up when you speak. I did tests on this talking to friends in party chats, game chats, and Netflix parties (x360) and each time my I spoke it decided what it wanted to capture. This was proven by no mic ICON appearing and friends not hearing me say anything when I am speaking in a loud enough tone to be heard in the room over.
For those who wish to know YES i did take the mic and headset off and put the mic directly in front of my lips and spoke into it AND IT STILL CHOSE WHAT IT WANTED TO PICK UP. This is the main regret I have in purchasing these. The faulty mic.
All in all the cords are well cordy.
The USB it comes with is pretty cool for plugging into tvs and the and comes with two Audio R/Y cables and M/F ports (Male input/ female socket for plugging in the component cables (god forbid anyone still use these) The price is ok...Radio-shack shouted sale but their 49.99 universal so I laughed at that.
The picture makes it look glossy, hopefully it works well!
