Great Game hopefully more to come
This game is pure fighting game awesomeness great characters awesome graphics and brilliant story (unlike most fighting games). The graphics are bright and colorful while they aren't like street fighter 4 the gameplay is alot faster. The game features your basic stuff Arcade mode, Time trial, survival, practice and story mode. the story mode has multiple endings win, lose, finshing matches with diffrent moves i've had the game for a few months already and i only 100 percented 1 characters story. The online competion is tough enough said. the games challanges ranges from easy to rage quit hard some character s are abit over powered *cough* tager *cough* like being able to cancel out yout combo and hitting you withan over powering attack but thats only 1 character all in all great fighter biggest let down is the lack of unlockable characters but hopefully we see more in a hopeful sequal.

New to the genre, hooked on it since.
I'm fairly new to the 2D sprite-style fighting genre. Sure, I've played MK and Street Fighter and the like back in the day, but I was never any good, so I just kinda never played it. Sure I loved Smash Bros. and Soul Calibur, but those were different all together. And then, I played Guilty Gear. I fell in love with ArcSoft after that, and learned about BlazBlue. I figured I might as well go all out and buy the Limited Edition, since I loved the music from Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus. I must admit I have never been so addicted to a 2D sprite fighter as much as I have with this entry to the genre! The graphics rock, and seem very fluid for a sprite fighter. The voices are best in Japanese, and you don't need to know the language to understand how wonderful it is. The English dub is a bit grating at times, but I consider it to be a good cast anyway, despite the fact I'd just change it to Japanese because it sounds all around better. The soundtrack is, as Guilty Gear, awesome. Think Gothic-Cathedral meets Speed Metal with a hint of Asian zest. The anime-style character design is beautiful, not just in art, but in overall character. (If you don't feel manly and pumped-up when you play as Bang Shishigami, then you need to watch Gurren Lagann over and over until you've learned what being a man is all about!) All around the look and sound and even the feel of the game is just superb. Ah, but as with any game, there's a few places where in lacks...but not so much with BlazBlue. Some characters are either extremely over-powered or under-powered if not played with their fighting style in mind. This isn't really a game where you can pick up the controller and button-mash to win (although with the over-powered characters you can). You can't have a button-masher pick Carl Clover, because he'd just lose over and over again. However, if a button-masher that knows a thing or two about "quarter-circling" the analog stick can tear his opponent a new one just by picking Jin Kisaragi. For people who know what the heck they're doing in a fighting game, BlazBlue will make them feel right at home. The combos are kinda challenging, but it's not King of Fighters, and with the right analog stick for shortcuts to Distortion Drives and Astral Heats, it makes pulling off the big combos really easy, despite being cheap. I don't want to make this too long, but I shall sing the praises of this game, and sing along with Bang's "Fu-rin-ka-zan" theme, until the next one comes out....then I'll sing more! BUR~NING BA~NG!

Guilty Gear with another Name?
First of all there is an arcade mode where you fight ten other characters and between the fourth and the eighth character i believe you get into a little dialogue just as you would get in street fighter alpha game. Then there is story mode with no animations, which would have done wonders to this game, but sadly enough are just stand alone drawings with voice overs. Story mode narration can and will get annoying even if you can hit the skip button, it will just put it in fast forward mode, and this must be done an incredible amount of times if you want a one hundred percent completion on a single character. There are other modes such as practice and versus but other than that not much more if you have finished everyone else in arcade mode and story mode. Overall I have played only one other game such as this and it was guilty gear on the wii, and this game is full of characters that have many similarities between the two but you pretty much get just another guilty gear. Bottom line distributors felt justified to over price the game because of the inclusion of the two music cds and bonus video disc you could easily watch on video website. Why is it over priced you asked? because the latest guilty gear is about thirty bucks.

For ANY fighting fan, you should have this game in your collection.
I absolutely love this game, it's better than I thought it would be. I've always been a fan of the Guilty Gear series and this game, while in the same vein as those great titles is completely it's own animal. First of all it's very well balanced. Every fighter has their own strengths and weaknesses that play well in all match ups. Second, the action isn't as frantic as the GG games imo, but the fighting system still moves at a brisk pace and is very fluid. It's been an absolute joy to learn the basics of all the characters and I'm gonna be playing this a long time trying to master my favorites-*glances and Lichi*. Third, it's beutiful. The mix of 3D CGI backgrounds and the hand-drawn fighters looks great. I also love the over all art style. Comparing this to KOF XII, I'd have to give the nod to BB, it just looks gorgeous. The limited on-line time that I've experienced has been positive. Very little lag and LOBBIES!!!! I also like the fact that you keep your 'Rebel' points that you've gained even if you loose a match. The extra content on the LE discs is nice too. The two soundtrack discs offer up some really interesting, and at times rock'n tunes. But the thing I like the most is the strategy DVD. While I think it could have been done better it does serve it's purpose by giving new players to the series, (like me), a look at the ins and outs of the fighting system and how to exploit your opponents mistakes. The help on the MANY combo variations is a helpful bonus as well. If you're into fighting games which I'm sure you are if your reading this board you should go out and BUY BLAZBLUE. If your still skeptical I strongly recommend a rental or borrow-steal-your friends copy. So far this is my favorite fighter on the 360 and I've bought most of them. Hope you all can get in on it and I can play you on-line.

A BEAUTIFULLY done 2D style Fighter!
BlazBlue is a friggin awesome fighter than im pretty sure you and your friends will have a blast playing. The game single-player is pretty tough if u put it on the harder difficulty levels but its not really the hardest out there. The gameplay is great for beginners. Its really easy to pick up which is good if its your first time but for me and maybe other experienced players, it might be a turn-off because its OVERLY simple, depending on the character of course. But either way its still very fun. The characters are very well made even though there is only 12 (which i think there shouldve been at least a few more). Each character is unique in both personality and fighting styles. The characters are actually even in their own way. Anybody should be able to beat anybody which is great because there are many "broken" characters in all fighting games. An example would be Sagat how he can throw projectiles high and low at a very fast speed. The graphics are nicely done. I liked the high def 2D characters fighting on very beautifully designed 3D backgrounds ( like Marvel vs Capcom 2 only better). The only thing i have to complain about is the special moves. Although they are flashy, they are nowhere nearly as great as Guily Gear specials. I think it is lacking in that. I've never really been a fan of English voice acting over Japanese but it is nicely done. The music is actually pretty sweet just like Guilty Gears. Not as great but we cant keep comparing it to Guilty Gear right? The story is actually impressive, which is rare in fighting games. It has a branching storyline with each characters and i think it was nicely done how it introduces the background of each character and then shows the link they have with the story of BlazBlue. It should take about an average RPG length to get through all. BlazBlue has tons of unlockables, which shouldnt be mistaken with download content. It has lots of gallery pics to unlock, and audio interviews of character voice actors but in Japanese only without subtitles unfortunately. Limited Edition version is worth the money, seeing how its same price as standard edition and it's out a whole month earlier than standard for pre-orders only (sorry dudes). It has nice casing, the game of course, an instructional DVD with tips and strategies for each character, and a few other bonus contents like trailers and such. It also has a 2 CD soundtrack with like 48 songs or so. FINALLY, online, like street fighter, is just as fun if not better because it is much faster. Overall BlazBlue is a game you should definately pick up if you're into the hardcore, fast action fighter. Its great and it has waaaaay more pros than cons. I recommend it. (4.5 / 5)

A must buy for Capcom fans
When I went into the playing of this game, I was expecting a Guilty Gear/Darkstalkers remake, but what I left with is a game that reminds me of Marvel vs. Capcom 1 blended together with Darkstalkers/Mortal Kombat, and music from some action packed movie. The controls are easy, but the combo's are difficult to pull off, which I believe makes it easier for newbies to get into these kinds of games without feeling totally crushed by an experienced player. I am having trouble deciding if it is easier to use the D-pad or the Joystick, but I find it a little disappointing that, instead of having to learn the combo's for each individual character, all you have to do is move the Left Joystick to the Left, and you perform a "Combo". The menu is fabulous, with complete refinement in how it’s set up and how it feels. The ability to control almost anything you want in-game is quite a thrilling experience. Music is phenomenal. From the righteous guitar solos to the symphony-esque performances, the musical qualities of this game far surpass some other games that just make you feel like you were left hanging. For a 2-D fighter, the graphics are incredible, especially on HD. The graphics in the background have amazing depth, and the contrast between colors allows you to play in ah of the background as well as be able to accurately track your characters around the screen. Overall, this is an incredible game that I will surely bring to parties when people get sick of playing COD WaW and other games like that. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would have to push IGN a little farther and say a 9.6. This game will hopefully shape the expectations of people who play hardcore fighting games, and make them expect a game of this quality in the future.

Great Game, possibly needs a bit more though
BlazBlue is an excellent game. The Story, Versus and Arcade modes are all top notch!! There are lots of great unlockable achievements for the 360 version. It has great gameplay and great character moves, as well as excellent animation. Though it is a 2-D game, I would highly recommend it. The reason I rated it somewhat poorly was for 2 reasons. 1) I believe the 10-person character base is somewhat limited. I feel there should be a few more characters that are available for the Arcade, Story, Versus, and Networking modes - sort of like the previously created game "Guilted Gear", or even a game like "Street Fighter IV". And 2) I feel that the downloadables need to be expanded upon. The only real downloadables for XBox 360 are more-or-less Ultimate versions of 4 out of the 10 characters on the game, which can actually be unlocked just by playing out the story and arcade modes. I think if the creators are able to add in a few more characters to the game, through downloads on both the PS3 and XBox 360, this game would be rated 10 out of 10 stars with no questions asked!!

BlazBlue is a must have Fighting Game!!
BlazBlue is not only a very challenging and wonderful game, but it is also stunning graphics wise. Even though the game consists of 2D fighting, the visuals and the backgrounds are something to awe at. The luscious color in the background and the vibrant contrast of the lighting in the fighting locations are amazing. But enough about the graphics, this game is overall wonderful. The fighting is complicated and very intriguing to say the least, but it isn't too hard for a beginner to grasp. This is my first 2D fighting game and i picked it up fairly easily. You can set up the controls the way you want them and set them the way that suits the player. Even though there are only a dozen characters to choose from (including the unlockables) each is unique in their fighting style. Mastering one character takes much time and effort but it gives you a major sense of accomplishment in the end. I definately recommend this to anyone who is new to fighting games or is used to them. It's really fun

BlazBlue with Style
I currently am residing in Japan and stopped by a local arcade and played this game. I have to say, it was a whole lot of fun. I personally went through the game with Ragna and Bang, and just those two characters alone offer totally different play styles. The main problem I have regarding this game is the relatively small amount of characters, there are 12 confirmed so far, most likely not any more. (The arcade has 12) That being said, it's a lot of fun and the characters all play so very differently, but whether the replay ability on consoles stands out or not in an age where 2D fighters have many characters is the real question. Definitely worth at least a rent, it's a really fun game.
