A Very Fun Game
This is a fun game that did not deserve to receive such poor reviews from the critics. Even from a general gamer's point of view, it is worth considering if you enjoy board games.
C.S. combines deck building and board game land management strategy. Both features work well and there is a lot of gameplay throughout the single player campaign.
The deck building strategy portion of the game could have been a little better refined, as not all cards work very well. Also, the story is not good but both short-comings can easily be overlooked.
It's too bad DLC, such as new cards or new boards, was never available, but the sales figures probably were not high enough to justify continued development of new game features.
There is a fanbase that is supported online and players can schedule multiplayer game times. Use your search engine and look up Culdcept Central to have more fun!

one of the best games ever
not only was the ps2 version epic, but the x360 upholds this "magic the gathering" meets "monopoly" gameplay awesomeness. the only drawback is the story, which is pretty weak sauce. aside from that, i keep coming back to this game over and over again every year since it's been released. friends still come over with their memory cards that contain their decks so we can throw down or team up against the a.i. do yourself a favor and pick up this game if you haven't already.

Challenging, not Appeasing
If you like strategy games, this game is for you. Combine the deck building of Magic the Gathering with the land management Monopoly and you have the basic premise of Culdcept. The graphics are upgraded from the previous generation game system, but not really comparable to other games for the current systems and the story line is dull. This is a game that you play because you are looking for a challenge, not to appease the senses.

Good Game
I had bought my Fiance an xbox 360 for christmas, and after a while I wanted a game of my own since i wasn't into first person shooters like he was. So culdacept Saga is my first xbox 360 game and I wasn't disappointed one bit. It is a very fun game, and I have a good time playing it. The only bad things about it are how long it takes to beat a level sometimes, and also, the fact that no one else has this game so whenever you try to play online no one is ever there to play against. Other than that, its a good game. I would definitely recommend it to others who want to play. Oh also, the graphics aren't all that great and the storyline really is kinda dumb, but the gameplay puts those two problems out of mind rather quickly. I do enjoy the different assortments of characters though.

One of the best unknown game for the 360
Take Monopoly, Magic, a 360, and a terribly unimportant storyline and this is what you get. Story, unimportant. Voice overs, poorly done, graphics, Dated, and i still love this game. the game takes place on a board with multiple elements and buildings and you complete laps by visiting all the forts on a map and returning the the starting castle. what makes the game great is multiplayer. Local games are the best. get 3 friends, chips, dip, soda. you'll be playing all night. play a match get new cards customize your deck and do it again. all the fun of a college cafeteria without people giving you funny stares. so far i've only had 3 for all fights but the've been really fun. the only thing i warn of is that this game has little to no redemption systems for the last place players. Dokapon gives the last place player a change to become the devil and even out the playing field but in this game the best way to fight back is to prep a deck with end game cards and get lucky. if you have friends near by or online that are looking for a good party game this is it. games last 20mins -1.5 hrs depending on the map and the settings.

I love this game!
Where to start, from the beginning I suppose. You start out with a basic deck of cards and go around a map with multi-colored squares on it just like monopoly. Every board has a number of forts that you have to pass and a castle that you then cross to make a lap. You lay down your creature cards on the different spaces to own that space and collect a toll whenever an opponet lands on that space, unless they want to use one of their creature cards to fight for that space. When you fight you can use different item cards to boost your strength or hp. There's also magic cards that can protect your creatures, kill an opponets creature, enchant you or your opponets or any creatures on the board. So there's a lot of stratagy involved too. Then when the game ends, even if you lose, you get random new cards that you can build new decks with. And trust me when I tell you that some of these cards open up whole new ways of playing. Goblin's lair with a couple Red Caps and you can't lose. The computer can be very difficult the first time through the game, but once you get some better cards than the ones you start with it's time to get even. You can also make your own opponents and using sliders adjust how aggresive they are, how often they invade, if they horde their cash or spend it on everything, pretty much every action they could make during the course of gameplay. Then there's the fact that you can have 4 people playing on 1 xbox, or go online with up to three other people. I've had this game since it came out and I've put around 500 matxhes into this game and I still don't have all the unlockable stuff yet. I'm 2 cards away from all of the cards being collected, it just keeps you always getting more and more stuff. Unfortunatly the music in the game, and the voice acting, is terrible. After 5 seconds of the music on the title screen you'll want to rip your ears off. But if you just put some of your own music on you'll be safe. Everything is subtitled too so you don't have to worry about missing what they say in the cutscenes. The storyline in the single player is kinda lame too, but all of that can be overlooked because once you start playing it's worth it. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes to have fun.

same as before
This game has a good concept for a card game, but still has the same problem as the first one, the artificial memory still beats the brain out of you. When you are about to beat the level, it pulls a series of combinations that send you back to the last place (when you are against two cepters). Plus when you have several places with over a thousand points of values it never steps in one of them, but on the other hand, you always land in theirs and then they clean you up. Rolling dice, while you get from 1 to 4 the AI rolls from 7 to 8, so you have no chance. The only good part of this game is the awesome hand-painted cards (not all of them). After several times its gets frustrating. Storyline, characters and interface are ok. The challenge is brutal, sometimes you have to play the same level several times to win it.

Good Game poor support
Over all Culdcept saga is a good game. In it players earn cards thru playing against the computer or other players online. They then add these cards to their "starter deck" and keep earning cards thru playing more and more. The game itself is alot of fun depsite its lackluster PS2 quality graphics. Put simply it is like Magic the Gathering combined with Monopoly. The downsides of the game are not the game's gameplay, but its design. At launch and that I know of the net code to date is bad and just about every game I have played disconnected. In the end I have finished like 2 out of 10 games without a disconnect. Namco to date has not acknowledged this. The game would have been better also if they showed the cards creatures fighting in some sort of manner instead of just showing animated figurines that stand still. Also the game would have been better if they limited the earned cards a bit more. Right now many players are "farming" cards by making short games so they can quickly get all the cards, which is against the game's intent. In the end the game itself is a good game, unfortunately its net code and other online players have ruined it for me. But if you plan to play alone on your Xbox against the computer or with someone you know is playing fairly and can stay connected to then this is the game for you
