Earn Your Stripes, Solo Singers!
I'm the kind of player who goes on solo career mode because they want to become more skilled. If you're looking to be skilled, Power Gig is a great place to start.
Sure, you may be tempted to do drums or guitar, but this game has some of the best vocal recognition I have ever seen. If you are sucking, it's because you actually are off pitch, not because the game is twitchy (I'm looking at you, Guitar Hero). It also doesn't go easy on you like Rock Band does with little forgiveness for being off pitch. Thankfully, it does not punish you for vibrato which is especially nice for older singers who love letting it ring. It does, however, score harshly so be sure to start as easy as possible and work your way up or you will not survive.
And what does this translate to? The Gig will make you skilled. I mastered a few songs on Apprentice then moved on to do the same songs on Rock Band. I was able to ace them on expert! People were asking me what band I play with and actually gathered to listen to me sing. I'm not in a band, I'm just good at The Gig.
I also greatly enjoy the plot and extra strategy offered by The Gig. It's actually a musical RPG set in an urban fantasy world. Choose your character based on abilities you want to use, then move on to align your energies with your band mates, unite the clans, and gain power to overthrow the evil dictator. It's an exciting change from the typical music game plots that features excellent visuals and voice acting.
Now for the few downsides about this game...
1) The song selection builds very slowly.
You only get new songs once you move on to a new section of the game. This can take awhile, but insures that you have mastered the previous songs which can really help later. It's possible to get bored during the early stages of the game, however.
2) Guitar and drum can be twitchy.
Don't bother with the "airstriker" and "six string" peripherals. Just use normal Rock Band or Guitar hero instruments for the best effect.
3) This game is hard.
Want to earn your stripes and get really good at rhythm games? Play this solo! Can't hold a tune in a bucket or have no idea what you're doing? You're going to need backup. Thankfully, this game grows exponentially easier the more players you have as the special abilities of each character stack. In effect, a full band makes The Gig much easier even though it will never be as easy as Rock Band or Band Hero.
4) The DLC shop doesn't work
If you want DLC you are out of luck. If you're not big on DLC or just don't care, this won't matter at all. I'm in the latter camp so I was unaffected by this.
In a nutshell, this game is a dream if you play solo and crave challenge with a nice plot or have a few friends to shave the difficulty down a little. If you're looking for an easy party game with all songs unlocked, however, you will want to look elsewhere.

For 9 Bucks give it a chance
This is yet another game that fell victim to the spoiled Rock band crowd. Seriously Kids. Give something else a chance. Yes, it was disappointing that this game did not live up to its full potential. The bundled guitar is nothing more than a rock band guitar with strings (don't waste your money on the bundle), but after all, we are still playing a rock video game. Why should anyone expect more? The track-list only consists of 20 songs, but they are all pretty decent songs. The note interface is very easy to get used to once you pick up the game it takes only seconds, and the graphics are not bad at all. So why the uproar that this game sucks? Because its not Rock band or Guitar hero. For 9 dollars pick it up and give it a try. You might like it.

Sells lies
This game is built on the idea that you are able to play a six string guitar but its really just a rockaband or guitar hero gutar with strings on top. You again are only using the five buttons and can strum anywhere on the bottom and the only exception to being a real guitar is power chords which there are only four of.

not worth it at all
to start off the setlist is horrible 20 songs? really second the graphics 1 word horrible this game in my opinion will not sell it feels like they have rushed this game 1out of 10 honestly Rock Revolution is better that this rip off

Rock Revolution 2?
This is not gonna sell at all. Looks just like Rock Revolution, which came out along with Rock Band 2... Never heard of Rock Revolution? Well there's a reason for that... Because it didn't sell! This is gonna be the same way...

Good concept, but rock band 3 has this and more
I think its nice that it is a real functioning guitar but Rock band 3 has the same exact thing. The difference in games however is rock band 3 integrates other instruments. Not just some silly guitar.

Not going to sell.
When people play this they are going to figure out that the guitar is actually difficult to play and is nothing at all like Guitar Hero. Besides, who is going to want to buy an off-brand game when Rock Band 3 is going to come out with the same type of gameplay? This game will not be heard of shortly after its release.

Meh.
At first glance, it looks like another game trying to ride the gravy train started by Harmonix. Upon seeing the screenshots, it looks as though they're really trying, but fall short in quite a few areas. First off, if they're bundling ONLY a Six String guitar in the first place, players who can't play the real guitar well or at all will be intimidated and stick to Rock Band because they can play that. Second, obviously, Rock Band 3 is already offering this kind of gameplay. Why go with the new, unknown game when you can go with the critically acclaimed one? Third, the songs listed on here just don't hold a candle to those on GH or RB. I can only pick out 3 I'd even bother playing. In the end, it's only going to hurt Seven45, as I can promise you now that 99% of the sales will be going to GH and RB. It'll be lucky if this even gets noticed for being something other than another chance at the music game genre.

Sucks to be these guys
well since rockband 3 is doing this exact same thing, this game will more than likely bomb in sales, Im not saying its gonna be bad, but I will always buy rock band over guitar hero and any other band based game. Thats why I feel bad for the deveolpers, because rock band 3 is gonna kill this game. I mean it might be amazing, but regardless rockband 3 will crush it.
