Not All That Bad!
This is Konami's attempt at riding the guitar game wave. It's a solid try but, not as good as Rockband or Guitar Hero...that said, there's nothing wrong with it. Sure, all the songs are covers but, that just means songs by artists not featured in other games like Cream, Avril Lavigne, Korn, and more! The gameplay is hard but, it is still fun. So, try it out - it's worth the price, no matter what!
Worth it for $5
When I saw the price of this, I had a feeling this game was pretty bad (after all, who would set the price of a good-selling game at $5?). But for $5, I figured that I would give it a shot. Simply put, if you're looking for a well-made game of superb quality, this is not it. However, for $5, it's a good buy. The graphics are pretty good, and many of the covers sound great. However, the 2D scrolling note "highway" kills my eyes and head after a few songs. Once again, the bottom line is: Rock Revolution costs $5, and it's not THAT bad!
Not a rip-off.
Okay, this is Konami's attempt at cashing in on the success of Guitar Hero. I'll admit that it has a weird setlist and it's really hard at first, but once your eyes adjust it's really really AWESOME. The gameplay is just like every other guitar game, except the note highway is on the far left of the screen and the note speed is a bit faster. You cannot make a custom character, you cannot sing, and I don't know how many of the songs are preformed by the original artists. For what it is, it's worth it. It has a fun setlist, which really makes you think a bunch of music geeks got drunk and wrote all the songs on the walls of a hotel. Actually, that's just what it makes me think. Anyway, TRY THIS GAME!!!
Wow, not what I was expecting.
Just bought this a week or two ago. Expected it to be a low budget rip-off riding the wave of popularity from Guitar Hero and Rock Band. First impression when popping it in was that the graphics were superior, or smoother (no creepy big mouths) to Rock Band and Guitar Hero. No character creation and a slim selection however quickly ruined that for me. My second impression, upon choosing a song to play, was, "Who is that singing Blitzkrieg Bop?" Don't get me wrong, some of the songs are superbly covered (check out Rock You Like A Hurricane), but some are far below par to have on a a video game. If you have a good sense of humor you might actually enjoy it somewhat like I did. My third and final impression came when I actually started playing. The highway with the notes is far off to the left, which may be to give anyone watching a better view of the stage. It's a welcomed change from its counterparts...for the viewer. For the person actually playing, it's very difficult to see unless you're sitting on the left side of a big screen TV. As previously mentioned in other reviews, the highway also differs in angle (or lackthereof). It shoots straight from the top to the bottom which kept me on my toes but also gave me a migraine after one song. To sum it up, if you're looking for a cheap (price and quality) alternative to every Guitar Hero you've beaten, this will give you some entertainment for a while. Not a game to be taken too seriously and nothing that you could play for probably more than an hour.
Good but WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING
OK so I picked this game up a year ago just to see what it was about, I got home poped it in and I must say it was pretty good, The modes in this game are fun a little more indepth then the guitar heros/rockbands. Now heres the thing about this game, it has a pretty nice selection of songs but there all cover versions, there is not a single master track..and some of them sound pretty bad. As I said before the modes on this game are really cool, I think the story mode for this game has much better ideas then the guitar heros and rock bands, there is a mode wer it shows you part of a song and you have to play it by memory, thats kinda col I liked that mode. *OVERALL* if your one of those peole that just dont get there tickle fancied by the guitar hero games and rockbands then you might wanna try this, its right for the price and if you dont like it so what,,its soi cheap Ican say i pleyed it for a few weks when i got it and have nt touched it sence, but for the price i cant be to upset aout it
Oh world, don't hate this game
About one month ago, I bought Rock Revolution. I was stunned at how boring the game was. I was dissapointed at wasting **** whole dollars. But, after another day of trying it, I put that all behind. I became hooked to the game very quickly. Rock Revolution is crtisized becuase it doesn't compare up to Rock Band, or Guitar Hero. Rock Revolution delivers a newer way to play music games. The chart scrolls from the top of the screen to the bottom, making it a bit trickier and in need of more conectration. The soundtrack is very decent. Every song is a cover, but every song is coverd very good. The only complaints I have on this game are the missing feature of vocals, and how akward the drums are. But, if you're a music fan, and looking to get a cheap new music game, I would highly reccomend buying this.
NO! Don't bother
This game wanted so hard to compete with the other music games. To be honest, it came pretty close. If it wasn't for the horrible covers, the awkward control interface, the below-average graphics, and the fact that it didn't have it's own controllers, this would have been a pretty good game. Most music tracks are actually covers and not the originals. This leads to some pretty big upsets. Playing Blitzcreig Bop isn't the same when the guy singing it sounds completely wasted. The control scheme is awkward. It seems like the other music games at first, but later on you find out there's some tweaks. Strange symbols(which you will have no knowledge of the meaning of) will shoot across the screen. The variety was pretty good. The gave you a chance to mix it up by having goals for certain songs but that doesn't really help. If you want something inferior to guitar hero and rock band go ahead. It's worth a try at least, maybe, but it may be hard for most people to hand;le. You get a horrible case of guitar hero eye just looking at the screen
Give it a chance
I remember when this game was coming out and no one was even willing to give it a try. When the game was released it was priced near Rock Band and Gutiar Hero. It is nowhere near the games that Rock Band and Guitar Hero are; however, the game does not deserve the reputation that it has developed. Had Rock Band and Guitar Hero not doen so well, we would all be raving about how great Rock Revolution is. Now that time has passed and the sale of Rock Revolution has not been what the company hoped for, this game has become a really good pruchase. Anyone who enjoys music genre games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero should consider purchasing Rock Revolution. You might just be surprised at how good of a game it acutally is; and if you are not well, you don't have to pay much to buy it.
This game is okay. It's no where near as good as Rock Band, or Guitar Hero, but for under ** ***** in most places, it's a good deal. Sure the interface takes a lot of getting used to, but once you do get used to it, it's pretty fun. The song list in my opinion is pretty good. And if you have Xbox Live, you can download a Pantera pack which is great. Some of the covers though I think, and many agree with me, are pretty freaking bad. For example, Chop Suey! by System of a Down in this game sounds HORRIBLE. They shouldn't of even put it in. But also, some don't sound too too bad. You kinda start to get used to them after a while. Drums I do not like, and vocals I don't like either, but if you're a guitarist I can recommend this game for the price.
This game wins......hands down. Sure the bass note for the drums is in the middle, get used to it or don't play them. I say there are some great songs. Guitar Hero and Rock Band pick songs that nobody knows, I honestly hate that. Sure there are more songs but most of them suck. This game has less songs but better songs. Guitar Hero 2 had covers and nobody seemed to care about that, but no Rock Revolution has covers and everyone make a big deal about it. Sure there are a couple of not so good covers. if you don't play those songs, you won't have to listen to the covers. Most people give this game a bad rep and they have never even played the game. I say they should try the game and see if they really think it is that bad. I thought this was a great game.
