Good Game, But It Needs Better Multiplayer
This game is easy to play and it gets you into the action immediately. The cutscenes and the way the story is told through images projected on the walls really helps to bring in new players and catch them up on who Sam Fischer is and why you are on the mission. Although the story may be a bit over the top it is coherent and doesn't leave anyone with unanswered questions about loopholes in plot. The game mechanics have changed, a lot, from the earlier games. The action is fast. The controls are really great. the whole game has been improved. This is not the Splinter Cell of yesterday. It seems as though Ubisoft took the best of both worlds; fast-paced Assassin's Creed style adventure mixed with the old familiarity of Splinter Cell stealth style gameplay. The multiplayer is good but I think it could have been expanded and improved upon. Offering more missions would have kept people playing. The multiplayer could have offered more options like in the older games, capture the flag and such. The multiplayer is also glitchy and has connection problems. I would highly recommend this game. I would also recommend that other people who write reviews should consider their grammar and spelling usage and try to make the posts legible.

we all have to be patient for great things.
i don't agree with everyone that has been waiting for a long time for this game. why so long, i think it is because ubisoft wants to make it is perfect as possible. Everyone just take a minute and think. Ubisoft has set the bar very high. with the release of assassins creed 2 last year in my opinion ,set the standards high for them and all the hype for conviction comes from what, the gamers. so just sit back and relax because if it is another few weeks or few months, i believe ubisoft will deliver and we will not be unsatisfied.

lame
so i preordered this thinking you'd get a gun controller seeing as failed to specify what the shotgun actually was until its release date came closer. like tony hawk ride another downer. * more for some download you cant even get a good feel for? please. you're better off renting this than paying

now that the delays are out of the way
This game could seriously compete for the GOTY award. It's visuals are not the best ever seen but it is definitely up there. gameplay looks smooth and ingrossing, but Ubisoft games have had problems with screen ripping before so let's hope they got that right this time. Story seems well developed into the franchise and bringing back key players such as Grim and Costa helps. To clear a few things up that the other posters have said, Sam is only 43 in Conviction and Ubisoft did this on purpose to keep the possibility of ANOTHER splinter cell game. The Delays have hit hard, but well worth the wait because that first showing with sam throwing chairs and people looked fun but it wasn't splinter cell. A Demo was suppose to be released but it appears that that idea has been scrapped as there has been no mention of it since it's original planned release in the beginning of Febuary (before the game was delayed for HOPEFULLY the final time). On 4/13/10 we will hopefully get the final verdict.

wow. just wow.
You know, i have waited for this game to come out for almost 2 YEARS!!!! Its ridiculous how many times it has been delayed! And this most recent delay after they said it would be a permanenet release date. Oh my god! It sucks! I was really really phsyched to play a game with no loading screens. EVER! But i mean its coming close to the point that im going to ask for my money back if it gets delayed agian. Having payed for the special edition in full, i could buy loads of other games with only like 20 more dollars, i mean really! its gotten to the point where theere isnt any anticipation for it anymore. I mean i have no doubt ill love it but its still the most ridiculous thing ever to be delayed what 6 or 7 times and still expect people to want it.

awsome!
I'm so glad that Sam is finally coming out of his shell and getting the action amped up to the max. Either going to pre-order this or Fable 3. Very very very very hard decision.

Splinter Cell : Conviction
Wow...I can only say wow as to how long this game has been in development. I believe it was originally planned to come out in Q4 2007, and it's now Q1 2010...I am a diehard fan of the series, as with Army of Two and Resident Evil, but I am beginning to lose faith in this installment. I think the gameplay is a step in the wrong direction, you have to think, Sam is around 52 years old, can he really move like that now? And the idea of making him a rogue agent is a little odd, maybe pushing the series to the 'Bourne Comparison' instead of Splinter Cell : Conviction. Don't disappoint Ubisoft!

Delayed again?
Might as well say this game will never be released. Originally set to come out in November of 2007 and it got delayed a few months several times, then disappeared only to reappear as a completely new game and the cycle restarts. Delayed, delayed, I give up on Ubisoft. I've always been a fan of the Splinter Cell series, but this is just getting annoying. Just release the damn game already. We're sick of waiting.
