Maybe it is just me, but I have been leaning toward games that many stay away from. Or maybe I am just picking up these games long after their release. I have both Supreme Commanders for the 360. And while I am fairly new at the RTS genre, I know a good game when I see it. Supreme Commander is a good game. So is the second. They are very solid overall but they do have some flaws that I believe exaggerated their negative vibe due to online play on both and complicated controls on the first. The online play is not good because there is not a big fanbase for this series and genre on consoles. It really shows on the first. Supreme Commander has too much going on in a match for it to be overall effective online. It can take forever to find a match and that match will eventually get laggy due to the huge amount units one can build. It cannot keep up. Also, the controls are very complicated. There is a learning curve. How steep depends on one's patience. One is given a vast amount of options and commands one can utilize. This in part can also contribute to the not so pleasant online play. The campaign and offline skirmish modes are solid. There are three factions one can choose from in both installments and they each have their own campaign. While the story is half-cheesy, it still grabs one's attention nonetheless. The offline skirmish mode is great. It can freeze time to time, but a much better experience the playing online. It also features some flexible customization and a fair amount of game modes to keep it fresh. The AI plays it part in that customization as one can customize the difficulty of the AI and to a degree, how the AI plays. One can set up the AI to heavily rush, turtle and almost everything in between. Both Supreme Commanders have Tutorials which I suggest completing. Now with that being said and despite the flaws, I still think Supreme Commander is solid and worth the buy if one wants a challenge. Now if Supreme Commander is too large and rough around the edges, consider the second smaller and more smoother. Supreme Commander 2 better corrects the major flaws of the original by reducing and simplifying. It caters to a much better but still not perfect online experience, gives a certain agree of attractiveness to new gamers while keeping most of the elements that made the first solid. While the first is good, the second is much improved and better suited for online gameplay. So if one wants a solid RTS game that is challenging and demanding, I suggest one goes with the original. If one wants a more simplified and stremlined RTS game that is still challenging and wants to take it online, then I would suggest Supreme Commander 2. Both good, but have significant differences. I like both. And they are well worth their price.
It is a large scale epic warfare game in the RTS real time strategy genre play as there factions UEF Cybran Nation or the Aeon each have different and unique units with there own attributes perfect for strategist again loved it!!!
Great strategy game
It's a great strategy game takes time to learn how to play and patient. I suggest play it on the PC because the computer is more powerful to Handle this game otherwise if you built too many units it lags a bit on the console... It's fun try it out if you're a strategic gamer.
Better than Supreme Commander 2!!!
This game is a lot better than Supreme Commander 2. More units. More realistic. If you do multiplayer the game will get very laggy. Pretty good graphics although if you don't like alright graphics you shouldn't get this. If you like this game I suggest you get Supreme Commander Forged Alliance. It is the newest Supreme Commander game and is a great inprovment over this game.
Just plain epic
Supreme commander is the game for the gamer who wants to go into hardcore as this game has the largest learning curve of any game I have ever seen. I have played this game since it came out. I have played WELL over 2000 hours in the game. Gone through 5 discs including a melted one in my 360. I have never had so much fun in a 360 game... We have a large community of players on the 360 who play supreme... The only downside of this game is that there has NEVER been a update in the game, and it can be hard for a new player to it. But there is nothing more satisfying then having a war that lasts for quite some time. p.s. folks don't rush unless you use t1 light assault bots on a t1 transport... I am willing to help anyone in the game who wants help... name is Hillhulk Smash. Ask me for help and I will help. There is the most versatile amount of warfare here. I am looking for another disc right now as my newest one broke... 5 discs THAT should tell you something on just how epic this game is... P.S. turn your fx down in the game or you will blow your speakers :D
I love this game!
This is one of my favorite game, recommended for people who loves Strategy games. At first it will be hard to get used to the game, but when you finally know how to play then it's so fun and addicting .
This game was amazing. It had a well backed story and nearly 100 hours of gameplay. one of the best games I've ever played.
Supreme Commander? Not very Supreme...
For a game from 2007, the graphics and facial animations are good, and the plot is laid out perfectly, but there are quite a few problems with the game. It takes a long time to load, getting to the "build objects" menu requires a lot of patience(while holding the right button on the d-pad, push the down button on the d-pad), and the only time my Xbox has frozen is on this game(I don't know if it's just on the Slim or not). Not to mention if you have more than 20 vehicles selected, the game lags majorly. The entire game moves slowly, and it is very easy to die, and hard to kill your enemies. The game is challenging, but not in a good way, more like a pull-all-your-hair-out-in-frustration way. The vehicles are pretty 20th-century for a game set in the 3300s. If you are willing to pay $10 for an okay game, go ahead. I'm going to GameStop today to trade it back in.
One of the best tactical RTS games in stores.
Anyone who doesn't like this game has never played RTS games in my opinion this game takes the ultimate amount of skill in tactics even people who spam experimental units the entire time won't win the match if someone there against is far more skilled then they are in tactics as such as base size as well. But I would surely recommend this game to friends for the aspect of good strong gameplay. Large amount of units. Large scale warfare insanely large maps for hosting such battles. Then the 3 campaigns which make everything even more great and perfect for what lies around the corner.
its a little less then average
I got this game because i like the genra and the picture on the front... not best choice. This game takes to long and has WAY to many troops. like 1000. Some troops are to small to really see and or way to under powered. Then theres an exact oppsite and there huge and slow
