you don't really need this
the original xbox is loosing value, and more people are buying the 360, so there's less need for this. but it works really well, and I got one because I held on to my xbox after I got a 360 and moved my xbox to another tv and replaced the dvd player there with my xbox. this woks great, but it's not valuable

Good, although it should have been included
It is sort of silly the the Xbox came without any DVD capabilities at all, and that you actually have to buy an add-on to get it. However, the kit comes with the Xbox remote, so there is some value. The remote works like a standard DVD remote should, with pause, play, skip, stop, etc., with some notable things missing: Eject and Power. It is not a huge problem to me, and the Xbox may not even be capable of using a remote to power on or eject a disk, but it is a little inconvienient. The remote is a good size, and is extreamly light weight. The way it works is that you hook up the Playbakc kit's IR receiver (included) into one of your controller ports and WHAM! You can play movies now. It's that simple. Even though you probably already have a DVD player on the TV you're using, it's nice to make the most out of the system.

A must-have add-on to your Xbox console!
This DvD remote really turns your Xbox into a dvd player. I've heard a lot of complaints that it only plays certain DvDs, but I've never had a problem with both newer and older DvDs. I'ts totally worth anything under five bucks, so get it if you want to turn your Xbox into a DvD player!
